The Zebra DS3678 barcode scanner connects to an iPad over Bluetooth in HID keyboard mode so you can enter data in Beam and quickly identify items or place them on location. This guide shows how to connect it.
Steps apply to both standard range (about 1 m) and long-range (10+ m) versions. For other scanners, see our device guides or contact support to confirm compatibility.
Set up the barcode scanner
Pair the DS3678 with your iPad first:
- Bluetooth: On iPad go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn it on.
- Hold: Press and hold the activation button on the DS3678 until it beeps.
- Release: Release the button.
- LED: The scanner's Bluetooth LED blinks when it is in pairing mode.
- Select: On iPad, select DS3678 from the list of devices.
- Connected: The LED stops blinking when connected.
If the scanner does not connect automatically, try:
- Device Type: Scan the Bluetooth HID Device Type barcode from the DS3678 manual.
- Country Code: Scan the Bluetooth HID Country Code barcode for your country.
- Connection: Scan the Bluetooth HID Connection barcode from the manual.
That configures HID keyboard mode. If it still does not connect, restart the scanner and iPad and try again. For ongoing issues, reset to factory settings by scanning the barcodes below.
