Create a stock count

Set up a count at your work location, covering all products, a category, a subcategory or a manual selection.

Updated 2 min read

A count compares what is physically present with what Beam expects. Create it at your work location and decide what to count before you begin.

Before you begin

  • Choose a work location. Without one, the app says Select a work location before creating a count.
  • Decide the scope: an entire location, a category or a list of products.

Steps

  1. Open Counts and tap Create count. You can also choose Start count from the search window.
  2. Under Basic information, enter the Count name, optionally a Scheduled date and a Description. The app confirms: This count covers stock at your current work location.
  3. Under Select scope, choose what to count:
    • All products: Count your entire inventory;
    • By category or By subcategory: choose one or more groups, sorted by Name (A–Z) or Number of items (high to low);
    • Specific products: Manually select products to count (max 300).
  4. For specific products, tick the products or choose Select all and Add 40 items. The 40 / 300 products counter tracks the limit.
  5. Tap Create count. The app reports Count created successfully, and the count appears under Open.

If creation fails

Could not create count with Check your connection and try again means the app could not save it. Check the network connection and retry; no partial count has been created.

The count list

Counts has All, Open, Active and Done tabs. Each row shows progress (120/150 counted) and the number of products. On a wide screen, the table includes Progress, Counted, Expected, Extra and Missing.

Next: count with RFID or barcodes.
