Set up the walking route
Set the starting point, default destination and front of racks so Beam can calculate pick routes and distances.
The walking route tells Beam where a pick run starts, where it ends and which side of a rack you access. The app uses these three settings to calculate the route view and distances in planning.
Before you start
- You have permission to manage the floor plan.
- The racks and storage positions are on the map.
Steps
- Open Floor plan and choose Set up walking route.
- Choose the Starting point (depot): where a run begins and the picking trolley is kept.
- Choose the Default order destination: where a picked order goes, such as the packing table or shipping dock. An individual order can use a different destination.
- Under Front of racks, choose the picking side: Automatic, North, East, South or West. With Automatic, Beam determines the front from the aisle.
- Save. The map confirms with Saved.
Check the result
Open an order with several lines in route view. The route should run from the depot through the stops to the destination without passing through racks. If the approach side is wrong, adjust Front of racks.
Stops without a mapped location. If a product is stored somewhere not shown on the map, Beam cannot place that stop. The route then reports totals are a lower bound. Add the location to the map or move the stock.
