Add network devices and printers
Find, add and test a fixed Impinj R700 reader or Zebra label printer on the local network.
Alongside Bluetooth readers, Beam Mobile can use devices on your local network: a fixed RFID reader for a read zone and label printers for stock and price labels.
Supported network devices
| Type | Devices |
|---|---|
| Fixed RFID reader | Impinj R700 |
| Label printer | Zebra Link-OS printers, such as the ZQ, ZD and ZT series |
Always validate the brand, model and read performance for each project; see the hardware page.
Find devices on the network
- Make sure your device and the equipment are on the same Wi-Fi network. Without Wi-Fi, the app says No Wi-Fi connection.
- Open Devices, tap the plus button and select WiFi / Network under Connection type.
- The app scans the network (Scanning 120 of 254) and groups results under RFID Readers, Printers, Smart Devices and Other Devices.
- Tap a device to add it.
If the app does not find it, choose Enter IP manually and enter its address, such as 192.168.1.100.
In the app only. Network scanning does not work in a browser. Use the mobile or desktop app.
Add a Zebra printer
- Choose Printers in the results, or enter the IP address. For a Bluetooth printer, you can enter its MAC address (
AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF), though the app recommends Wi-Fi. - Make sure the printer is on and in pairing mode.
- Tap Test print to check the connection.
You can then print labels from the app, such as when adding stock (Print labels) or from a container (Print label).
Device status and diagnostics
Each device has a Device status screen with a Summary, Technical details and What you can try. A typical summary is: This app cannot reach the device on the network. Check Wi-Fi, the IP address and firewalls.
