Count with RFID or barcodes
Run an open count with an RFID reader or barcode scanner, read the live results and track scan synchronisation.
In an open count, you record what you see. An RFID reader captures unique units in one sweep; a barcode scanner or manual entry counts quantities for each product. Both methods can be used in the same count.
Before you begin
- Pair your reader and check that it is ONLINE.
- Open the count from Counts or from Home (Continue counting).
Count stock
- Choose the counting mode at the top: RFID or Barcode.
- Start scanning and walk along the rack. The Live count bar updates with four counters:

| unique | A tag seen for the first time in this count. |
| repeated | A tag already seen in this count. It is not counted twice. |
| unknown | A tag Beam does not know. |
| invalid | A tag that does not match the expected format. |
- Progress appears for each product and overall: 120 / 150 products counted, 30 left to count or Everything counted.
- If you scan a barcode for a product stored in several places, the app asks you to Choose an exact stock position.
Each product shows matching, too few or too many. For an RFID product, view the tags under OK, Extra and Missing.
Scan synchronisation
RFID observations are saved on the device before they are sent, so an interruption does not lose them. The Sync section shows three counters: sent, in flight and queued, for example 480 scans sent and 12 queued.
Do not close the count until in flight and queued are both 0. The app enforces this: Scans are still synchronising. Wait until both queued and in flight are 0 before closing this count.
Interrupted? If you close the app or lose the connection, unsent scans are retained. Reopen the count and the queue will be sent.
Observations that need attention
Unknown and invalid tags are not silently added, and a missing unit is not automatically written off. Review them in Check observations before closing the count.
