Using the scanner
The Beam Mobile scan page: RFID, barcodes and the camera, recognising tags and codes, and linking EPCs to a product.
Scan is the general-purpose scanning page: read tags or codes and see which product, order or EPC they belong to. Counting, picking and receiving have their own scanning screens; use those for those tasks.
Choose a scanner
The page first detects your hardware (Detecting hardware…), then shows Ready to scan…. Available sources appear as chips at the top: RFID, Barcode and Camera. Use the scanner button to open Select Scanner and choose the Camera Scanner, Built-in Scanner or a paired reader. Its status is shown as RFID Ready, RFID Offline, Barcode Ready or Barcode Offline.
Scan and read
- Tap scan (Tap scan to start), or pull the trigger on a handheld.
- Each tag or code appears as a row labelled ITEM, ORDER or UNKNOWN.
- Sort by Recent, Count, RSSI or Match. The counters at the top show tags, codes, found and unknown.
Enable Group by item for One row per item with all tags instead of Each tag as a separate row.
Recognition
The Item Identification switch matches scans to your catalogue: Automatically identifies SGTIN tags, EPC codes and barcodes and links them to items in your catalogue. An administrator defines which patterns are recognised as a product, EPC or order in the scan settings.
Row actions
- Go to item opens the product.
- Locate item starts the RFID search for this product.
- Link all EPCs to this item links unknown tags to the selected product. The app confirms: 12 tags linked to Aurel chair.
- Copy code copies the code to the clipboard.
- Clear empties the list, with Undo available to restore it.
Scan barcodes with the camera
The camera scanner has two modes: Single (Point at a barcode) and Multi (Scan multiple codes in succession). A read returns EPC found, Item found, Order found or Not found (This code is not known in the system). If a code matches multiple products, the app reports Multiple matches and does not use the code.
Reader messages
