Returns management

Know what comes back. And who sent it.

A fixed RFID reader identifies returned items. Beam uses the link made at dispatch to show which customer or site they came from. There’s no need to open each order or select a customer. Then check the condition of the return.

01 The problem

Check returns before using them again.

An item is back, but is it fit to use? Without an inspection, damaged stock can be sold or issued again.

  1. 01 Returns are not properly recorded in stock.
  2. 02 Damaged items are sold or issued again too soon.
  3. 03 No one remembers why something was written off.

02 How it works

One armchair returned. Three possible outcomes.

Scan the return

RFID handheld

Beam identifies the armchair by its own RFID label and finds its earlier dispatch on order ORD-30398. The armchair is now received at the returns area.

Identified on return

02 / 04

Set it aside

Confirmed in the app

Put the armchair on hold with the reason Return. It is then unavailable for picking. You can configure returned items to start on hold automatically.

Place on hold

03 / 04

Inspect and decide

Confirmed in the app

Decide whether the armchair can be used again, needs repair or should be written off. James approves it and releases the hold. The reason is recorded.

Put the armchair away

Barcode

Place the armchair at A-04 and confirm the storage location. The putaway task stays open until then.

Put-away task

The armchair is at A-04 and available again. The activity log records who placed the hold, who released it and why.

How Beam handles a return

04 Outcome

What the return record tells you

  • What came back, and which customer or site returned it?
  • Where is it now?
  • Why is it available or unavailable?
  • Which inspection or action is still open?
  • What happened to the item after inspection?

05 Fit

When this solution fits

  • Returns need inspection or repair first.
  • You repeatedly issue and take back products such as tools or rental equipment.
  • You need to know which item came back, in what condition and from whom.

We configure identification, receiving, inspection and storage for your returns process. Fixed RFID readers are tested with your products. Rental scheduling and credit notes are outside this solution.

Know which returns are ready to use again.

Follow a return from identification to inspection and storage. See what happens when an item is approved, damaged or no longer usable.
