Inventory accuracy

Know what is in stock and what is available.

A Beam count puts expected stock alongside what the reader has detected. A discrepancy stays open until someone reviews and resolves it.

01 The problem

Twelve in the system. Nine on the shelf.

Adjusting a total will not explain why it was wrong. Use the count to investigate where the discrepancy came from.

  1. 01 Staff search for stock that only exists in the records.
  2. 02 Available, reserved and held stock get mixed together.
  3. 03 A count overwrites the records, and the cause is lost.

02 The process

One sofa is missing. Here is how you resolve it.

What you see during a count

Physical, reserved, held and available stock for each stock position. A total does not tell you what you can use; these four figures do.

04 Outcome

What the count tells you

  • What is physically present?
  • How much of it is actually available?
  • Where is it?
  • Which discrepancy needs action?
  • Who made the last change, and why?

05 Fit

When this solution fits

  • Search time, count discrepancies or unexplained corrections keep recurring.
  • Some stock can be tracked by quantity while other items need individual history.
  • Discrepancies need a documented investigation, not just an overwritten figure.

Exact counting speed, RFID coverage and accuracy are validated for each stock type, environment and reader setup. Beam does not automatically write off a missing item or silently add an unknown tag.
