Frequently asked questions

How many antennas can I connect to the FR22 Lite?

The FR22 Lite supports up to 4 antennas. Each port can drive one antenna, allowing you to cover multiple zones such as doorways, shelves or workstations from a single reader.

Do I need an IoT Bridge to use this reader?

Yes. The IoT Bridge acts as the central connection point between your RFID readers and the Beam platform. It manages device communication, configuration and data flow to the cloud.

What is the difference between the FR22 Lite and the full FR22?

Both share the same Impinj E710 RFID engine and processing platform. The full FR22 adds WiFi (dual-band), full Bluetooth stack, HDMI video output, GPIO ports, and support for expansion modules like the MUX16 (16-port multiplexer) and BFA antenna. The Lite is ideal when you only need wired Ethernet connectivity and 4 fixed antenna ports.

Can I power the reader with a regular Ethernet cable?

The FR22 Lite uses Power over Ethernet (PoE), so you need a PoE-capable switch or injector. This provides both data and power through a single cable, simplifying installation.

What kind of tags does the FR22 Lite read?

The FR22 Lite reads UHF RFID tags in the 865-928 MHz range using the LLRP protocol. It is compatible with all standard passive UHF RFID tags and labels.

Compatibility is only the beginning.

A reader’s ability to connect does not prove that every tag can be read reliably in every environment. That is why hardware, tags, products, read zones, volumes and exceptions are tested together before any performance commitment becomes part of the scope.
