A compact RFID reader for desks and counters

The R3S is designed for close-range RFID workflows where items pass over a desk or counter. It combines the reader and antenna in a thin desktop unit.

  • Near-field RFID — Controlled reads for desktop workflows
  • All-in-one — Integrated UHF module and antenna
  • Flexible connection — USB-C, BLE 5.0 and PoE+ version

For check-in, checkout and kiosk use

Use the R3S where you want reliable short-range tag reads without a handheld scanner: desks, returns, issue points, self-service stations and high-value item checks.

  • Controlled zone — Near-field antenna helps limit stray reads
  • Feedback — LED indicators and buzzer for scan feedback
  • SDK support — Supports Android, iOS and Windows systems

Frequently asked questions

What is the R3S used for?

Use it for short-range tabletop workflows: order box validation, checkout, returns, counter intake and kiosk scanning.

Can it read many tags at once?

Yes. Chainway specifies 70+ tags in one scan over five seconds, with 250+ tags/s fastest read rate.

When should I not choose the R3S?

Do not choose it for walking inventory, pallet reads or wide zones. Use a Chainway C72 or R7 for mobile work, or a UR4/UR1A setup for fixed continuous reads.

Compatibility is only the beginning.

A reader’s ability to connect does not prove that every tag can be read reliably in every environment. That is why hardware, tags, products, read zones, volumes and exceptions are tested together before any performance commitment becomes part of the scope.
