Beam provides multiple ways to find what you are looking for, from typing a search query to scanning a barcode or RFID tag. Search is available throughout the app and is designed to return results fast, even with large inventories. See Quick search and Barcode search below.
Quick search
Quick search is available throughout the app. A search bar appears at the top of the screen. No matter which screen you are on, search looks across the entire app and finds:
- Items by name, item ID, article code, barcode, or description.
- Orders by order name, customer name, or order number.
- EPCs by EPC code or linked item name.
- Locations by location name.
Barcode search
Instead of typing, you can search by scanning:
- To use the camera, press the Scan button to open the scanner. You can also use a connected barcode or RFID reader.
- Scan a barcode or RFID tag.
- Beam automatically searches for the scanned code.
- On the Scan page, if a matching item is found, you are taken directly to its detail page.

When you are inside a stocktake (not the stocktake overview) or picking an order, scanning a barcode or EPC does not open the item. Instead, it adds the item to the stocktake or picks it for the order.
