Search

Quick search, instant search, barcode search, and filtering

Beam provides multiple ways to find what you are looking for, from typing a search query to scanning a barcode or RFID tag. Search is available throughout the app and is designed to return results fast, even with large inventories.

Every list screen in Beam includes a search bar at the top. Start typing to instantly filter the list. What you can search depends on the screen you are on:

  • Items Search by name, item ID, article code, barcode, or description.
  • Orders Search by order name, customer name, or order number.
  • EPCs Search by EPC code or linked item name.
  • Locations Search by location name.

On desktop and tablet devices, Beam offers a powerful instant search overlay:

  • Open with Ctrl+K (Windows) or Cmd+K (Mac).
  • A search overlay appears on top of the current screen.
  • Search across all entity types at once items, orders, locations, and EPCs.
  • Results are grouped by type so you can quickly identify what you are looking for.
  • Tap any result to navigate directly to its detail page.
💡
The instant search shortcut (Ctrl+K / Cmd+K) works from any screen in the app. It is the fastest way to jump to a specific item, order, or location.

Instead of typing, you can search by scanning:

  1. Scan a barcode or RFID tag using your device's camera or a connected reader.
  2. Beam automatically searches for the scanned code.
  3. If a matching item is found, you are taken directly to its detail page.
  4. Barcode search works from the dedicated scan page as well as from within scanning screens like Stock Takes and orders.

Filtering results

In addition to text search, you can narrow down results using filters:

  • Filter pills Tap filter pills at the top of list screens to filter by status, category, location, date, and more.
  • Combine multiple filters Apply several filters at the same time to narrow your results precisely.
ℹ️
Filters and search work together. You can type a search query and apply filters at the same time to find exactly what you need.
