Adaptive Display

Premium mode and minimal mode for different devices

Beam uses an adaptive display that adjusts visual quality to your device. You get a smooth experience on any device, from new phones to older or basic hardware.

Premium mode

On capable devices, Beam uses the full visual experience:

  • Smooth animations: Fluid transitions and micro-animations throughout the interface.
  • Glassmorphism and blur: Translucent surfaces with backdrop blur for a modern, layered look.
  • Gradients: Rich gradient backgrounds and accent colors.
  • High-quality images: Full-resolution item images and thumbnails.
  • Layered shadows: Depth effects with multi-layer drop shadows on cards and elements.

Minimal mode

On older or less powerful devices, Beam uses a lighter mode that prioritizes performance:

  • Instant transitions: Simplified animations that complete immediately.
  • Solid colors: Clean, solid surfaces instead of blur and transparency.
  • No blur: Backdrop blur is disabled to reduce GPU load.
  • Optimized images: Images load at lower resolution to save memory and bandwidth.
  • Simplified shadows: Single-layer or no shadows for faster rendering.

How it works

The system runs automatically:

  • Automatic detection: When the app starts, Beam checks your device's GPU, memory, and processing power and chooses the right mode.
  • No settings: Nothing to configure. The app picks the best mode for your device.
  • Works for everyone: Different team members can use different devices. Premium on a new iPad, Minimal on an older Android. Same data and features in both modes.
ℹ️
Adaptive display only changes how the app looks. All features, data, and actions are the same in Premium and Minimal. Only the visual detail differs.
