As a growing company, you want to be able to guarantee the quality of the product at all times. J. Heemskerk & Zn. mainly grows tulip, daffodils and hyacinth bulbs for export to China, among other things. When the flower bulbs are harvested, the logistical process starts. This is where the bulbs are stored, sorted, exported or prepared for final planting. During the storage of flower bulbs, it is essential to have control over the logistical process. In mid-2019, J. Heemskerk & Zn. That is why we chose to implement the Beam tracking & tracing app.
Flower bulbs are a living product. During the storage process, the flower bulbs are therefore moved many times between different cold stores or so-called drying walls, each with a different temperature, to control development and quality. With the Beam app, you now know at any time where a batch of flower bulbs is now, and where it has been in the past.
Tracking (= following a batch) starts with harvesting the flower bulbs on the land, which are kept in cubic boxes or mesh containers. On the country or upon entry into the company, a batch is created and all batch information about the type, customer and number of crates is entered. After that, the tracking process starts. From an iPad on the forklift, a mobile phone or computer, you can then easily track movements, splits or operations. By means of the task list, tasks are assigned to different employees. With Tracing(= checking the history of a party) in the Beam app, you can see at a glance when a party has been created, how often it has been moved and by whom. For example, J. Heemskerk & Zn. always has control over the logistics and quality of its flower bulbs.
